A quick lesson in parts of speech needed for the spellmaker:

  • Nouns are people, places or things.
  • Verbs are action words: go, run, hop, sing, stand. It's what nouns do.
  • Adjectives are words that point out, describe or limit the meaning of nouns. They tell which, what kind, how many, whose or how much.
  • Adverbs limit the meaning of verbs, adjectives or other adverbs. They tell how, when, where, why or to what extent. Most adverbs are formed by adding "ly" to the adjective, such as happy (adjective) ==> happily (adverb).
